How do I connect my display cable to my computer’s graphics card?

To connect your display cable to the graphics card on your PC, follow these steps -

What You'll Need:

A compatible display cable (HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, or VGA)

A monitor

Your PC with a dedicated graphics card

Steps to Connect:

Power Off Your PC and Monitor:

To avoid potential damage, turn off both the PC and monitor.

Locate the Graphics Card Ports:

Look at the back of your PC.

The graphics card ports are usually lower down, separate from the motherboard ports (which are often aligned near the top). [View Image]

You should see ports like HDMI, DisplayPort, or DVI.

Choose the Correct Port:

Select a cable that matches a port on both the graphics card and your monitor.

HDMI: Common and supports high resolution and audio

DisplayPort: Ideal for high-performance gaming and high refresh rates

DVI: Good for older monitors (video only)

VGA: Used for very old monitors (lower quality)

Connect the Cable:

Insert one end of the cable firmly into the corresponding port on the graphics card.

Connect the other end to the monitor.

Secure the Connection:

Some cables (like VGA and DVI) have screws to secure the cable. Tighten these by hand.

Ensure the connection is snug but do not force it.

Power On the PC and Monitor:

Turn on the monitor first, then the PC.

Select the Correct Input on the Monitor:

Use the monitor's input selection button to choose the correct input source (HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.).

Verify the Display:

Check if the desktop appears on the monitor.

If not, double-check the connections and input settings.
